Open coil - Probably the most common type of mattress, an open coil design is made by intertwining hundreds of individual steel springs. The thickness of the steel will determine how hard or soft the mattress feels.

Continuous coil springs - This mattress is made from a single length of steel wire woven into a series of interlocking springs. Thanks to its greater number of smaller springs it tends to have a more responsive feel than an open coil mattress.

Pocket spring - Individual springs are contained within separate cloth pockets and positioned in rows. This design allows each spring to work independently, supporting the body exactly where it needs it and preventing roll-together.
